Ex Police Chief in Cannabis Rethink
A former deputy chief constable has said it may be time to reconsider de-criminalising cannabis. Alan McQuillan told the BBC the current attitude to drugs was “creating a cash cow for organised crime, especially in relation to cannabis”.

Teenage Cannabis Use Rises in Europe
Cigarette and alcohol use among 15 and 16 year olds is declining across Europe but the numbers using cannabis are growing, an EU survey shows. The report for 2015 includes most EU countries, but not Germany or the UK, and data for Spain is incomplete. In 2015 “current smokers” accounted for 21% of those surveyed, and the highest total was in Italy (37%). In 1995-2015 those using alcohol in the past 30 days fell from 56% to 47%. Top in cannabis use were the Czechs (37%).

California – Legalisation
If California decide to legalize recreational cannabis this election, it will cause a flood of venture capital to enter the market for marijuana startups, investors said Tuesday speaking at a conference for marijuana companies in Oakland. A total of 9 states will be voting to legalize cannabis in some capacity this November. That includes Arizona, Maine, Massachusetts and Nevada, which will be voting on legalizing recreational use, and Arkansas, Florida, Montana and North Dakota, which will be voting on medical marijuana.
